Wouldn’t it be unrealistic to expect our children to bring good marks in their exams if they do not lead a balanced lifestyle? Our body demands a balanced diet for complete growth and development. Likewise, children require a balanced schedule for their cognitive growth.
If you eat well, sleep well, and play well, you will automatically STUDY well.
I have formulated a mantra to study well and lead a healthy life with my personal experience. Students can adopt this method to excel academically.
Mantra 1: Eat Well
Guess what? Brain foods are actually yummy. Do not worry! I will not drain you down by suggesting bland, boring food to boost your brain power. Eat anything you like but remain conscious of what you are eating.
Beginners could begin with food rich in Omega -3 and vitamin C. Treat your kid with oatmeal, flax, chocolate chip cookies or blueberry and Walnut yogurt.
Mom can surprise the little ones with vegan pie tart and spinach and salmon sandwiches loaded with cheese. It may sound as sinful indulgence, but it will do wonders to their little mind.
Mantra 2: Sleep Well
A sound sleep is a significant factor for a sound body. A good night’s sleep promotes memory and repairs damaged cells.
The results released by The National Sleep Foundation issued updated guidelines on how much sleep you really need at each age. An appropriate sleep duration varies according to age group.
Age Groups | Hours of Sleep |
Newborns | 14 to 17 |
Infants | 12 to 15 |
Toddlers | 11 to 14 |
Preschoolers | 10 to 13 |
School-aged children | 09 to 11 |
Teenagers | 08 to 10 |
Young Adults and Adults | 07 to 09 |
Older Adults | 07 to 08 |
Mantra 3: Play Well
It may be a BIG surprise for some. Yes! I actually mean PLAY well. The term ‘play’, does not signify playing indoors or on your video station or mobile phone.
Outdoors play feeds positivity. So, parents must encourage their children to go out and play with their peers.
It will enable them to learn to blend with people from different walks of life. They also learn interpersonal skills and teamwork. Above all, they get the exercise needed by the body. Researchers suggest that regular exercise sharpens the mind, contributes to cognitive development, delays brain aging, and helps in absorbing information rapidly.
Mantra 4: Study Well
I will not advise on this one because if you follow the above three mantras; you will automatically lead yourself to study well.
When children are nourished with nutritious food, refreshed after a good sleep, and energized with vigorous team play, they are bound to concentrate effortlessly on their studies.
